The SKA Bursary consists of several Postdoctoral fellowships funded by SARAO. SARAO is the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory and the SKA project is building the largest radio telescope in the world. SKA stands for Square Kilometre Array as that is the size of the area they want to build the telescopes.

The duration of your scholarship depends if you are a first-year student or a 2nd or 3th-year student. First-year students may receive 3 years of scholarship and 3th-year students 1 year of scholarship.

Currently this Scholarship covers R148 000 per year but it is under change of inflation and registration fees. The duration of the scholarship is between 1-4 years, being 1 year for 4th year students and 4 years for first year students
