What Is This Bursary About?

The Institute for Landscape Architecture in South Africa, or ILASA, is a non-profit organization that promotes landscape architecture in South Africa.

It is the parent organization for three other groups that represent members across the country: ILASA Gauteng, ILASA KZN, and ILASA Cape.

One of ILASA’s aims is to improve the skills of landscape architects in South Africa.

This raises demand for them in both the public and private sectors.

ILASA also attempts to empower previously underprivileged societies by providing bursaries to members.

ILASA runs a bursary program that provides financial support to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The bursaries also aim to foster future landscape architects.

ILASA will grant bursaries to persons pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in landscape architecture for the academic year 2023.

The students will have coverage for the duration of their studies.

Those pursuing a National Diploma will be funded for up to three years.

Students pursuing Advanced Diplomas may be eligible for support for an additional year based on their performance and other circumstances.

Bursars will receive support for three or four years, depending on the course, to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree.

Those seeking a Master’s degree will be eligible for funding for up to two years.

Who Can Apply

To be considered for the bursary program, applicants must first meet the eligibility requirements.

The institute develops these in order to select qualified candidates for bursaries.

Due to the limited number of bursaries available, it is unable to grant money to all students.

Anyone asking for bursary money must meet all of the requirements.

What Does This Bursary Cover?

The following expenses will be covered by the bursary program:

  • Tuition
  • Room and board
