What Is This Bursary Program?
The Sappi Engineering Bursary provides financial assistance to students pursuing Engineering or Forestry Science degrees at approved South African universities. The bursary may cover:
- Tuition fees
- Prescribed books
- Accommodation costs
- A living allowance
The total value of the bursary is determined based on the student’s household income. In addition to financial support, successful bursars will:
- Participate in vacation work during the July and December university breaks
- Be considered for the Sappi Engineer-in-Training programme upon graduation
Who Can Apply
To be considered for the bursary, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen between the ages of 17 and 25
- Have completed Matric or be currently in Matric
- Have achieved at least:
- 70% for Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy)
- 70% for Physical Science
- 60% for English
- Intend to study full-time at a university supported by Sappi
- Preference will be given to students from communities surrounding Sappi operations, provided they meet academic requirements
