The Inkomati-Usuthu Catchment Management Agency (IUCMA) Bursary application period will end on 3 February 2023.
Please make sure to submit your application and any other supporting materials by this date.
Your application won’t be taken into account by the bursary provider if you don’t do this.
What Is This Bursary About?
The Inkomati-Usuthu Catchment Management Agency (IUCMA) was founded with the goal of protecting, using, developing, conserving, managing, and controlling the nation’s water resources.
Its responsibilities include investigating and advising interested parties on proper water resource use and protection, developing a catchment management strategy, co-ordinating the related activities of water users and water management institutions within its water management area, and promoting community participation in the protection, use, development, conservation, management, and control of water resources.
This academic year, the Inkomati-Usuthu Catchment Management Agency (IUCMA) will provide bursaries.
Who Can Apply
This bursary program applies to students involved in the following fields:
- BSc/B Degree in Environmental Science.
- BSc in Hydrology/Water Resource Management.
- BSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Microbiology.
- BSc in Geohydrology, Geomorphology, and Botany.
Applicants must meet the following minimum entrance criteria to be accepted for this bursary program:
- You must be a South African national
- An inhabitant of Mpumalanga Province (inside the Water Management region of the IUCMA)
- Certified copies of a Matric certificate pass with at least 65% average marks and proof of admission from an institution of higher learning/provisional acceptance letter or must be admitted or enrolled to study for a Degree in one of the mentioned disciplines.
- Accepted at a recognized Higher Learning Institution
- Are you planning to enroll or are you presently enrolled in one of the aforementioned subjects of study?
- Applicants who are presently enrolled in any of the above-mentioned fields of study must submit a verified satisfactory academic record from their most recent study year (study level) with a grade point average of at least 60%.
What Does This Bursary Cover?
This bursary program will provide financial cover for registration, tuition, and test fees, as well as the price of lodging, food, required instructional materials, and a stipend are all included.

Completed application forms, as well as certified copies of the necessary supporting papers, must be provided:
- South African Matric certificate with a minimum average of 65%
- Proof of admission to an institution of higher learning OR a letter of provisional acceptance OR current enrolment in one of the aforementioned fields of study
- Academic record of satisfaction in the preceding year of study with at least 60% average (only applies to applicants who are already currently enrolled for a Degree within one of the aforementioned fields of study)
- Proof of domicile from the Local Municipality or Headman/Chief Proof of parental or guardian income, followed by an affidavit from the South African Police Service (SAPS)
