Closing Date

Please make sure that your application for this bursary is submitted by 10 June 2022 at noon South African time.

If you don’t, your application will not be accepted by the bursary provider.

What is The West Coast District Municipality Bursary?

This Bursary will be awarded to 3 successful candidates who live or parents/ guardians live in the West Coast Municipal Area.

The bursary will cater toward undergraduate studies (at an NQF6 – 7 level) for the following fields:

  • Economics
  • Risk Management
  • Civil Engineering
  • Internal Auditing

Who Can Apply

Applicants will need to meet the following criteria to be considered for this bursary:

  • Applicants need to be South African citizens.
  • Applicants or their parents/ guardians must live in the West Coast Municipal area.
  • Applicants must have completed Matric.
  • Applicants must be studying toward an undergraduate qualification in one of the fields mentioned above.
  • Applicants must be in their 1st-year of study for the 2022 academic year.
  • Applicants must be studying at a recognized tertiary education institution within South Africa.
  • Applicants must have at least 40% for Mathematics or 50% for Maths Literacy in Matric.
  • Applicants must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% OR a minimum overall average of 50% with a minimum result of 60% for Mathematics.
  • Preference will be given to applicants from historically disadvantaged societal groups and students living with disabilities.

What Does This Bursary Cover?

The 3 successful candidates for this bursary will each receive a total of R50 000.

This amount will provide cover for the next 3 years, conditional that the candidates abide by the terms and conditions of this bursary.

Please be aware that this amount does not contribute to accommodation expenses.

  • A certified copy of your ID.
  • A certified copy of your matric certificate.
  • Proof of registration to your chosen tertiary education institution.
  • A certified copy of your proof of residence.
  • A certified copy of your parents/ guardians’ ID.
  • A certified copy of your parents/ guardians’ proof of household income.
  • An affidavit of guardianship (if you are not living with your parents).
  • A motivational letter that supports why you have chosen your field of study and why you would be an ideal candidate for this bursary (max 1000 words).
