What Is The Mhlathuze Water Bursary Program?
The Mhlathuze Water Bursary if providing the opportunity for both undergraduate and postgraduate students to receive financial backing in a number of fields that can actively contribute to the improvement and maintenance of major water services in various municipalities within the Richard’s Bay area of Kwa-Zulu Natal.
The Mhlathuze Water Company was established over 40 years ago which intends to provide water and sanitation to a number of municipalities in the Richard’s Bay area.
Their bursary program is open to a wide range of students whose expertise may one day benefit the company.
However, these students will need to meet the following requirements set by the Mhlathuze Water Company:
- Applicants must be South African citizens.
- Applicants must be under the age of 25 years.
- Applicants must have completed Matric or have an equivalent certificate.
- Applicants must be studying or intend to study one of the listed qualifications below.
- Applicants must be registered or at least provisionally enrolled with a recognized tertiary education institution in the country.
Who Can Apply?
The Mhlathuze Water Company has partnered with the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA).
Together they will be awarding 20 bursaries. The Mhlathuze Water Company will be providing the bursaries while the EWSETA will be funding the operation.
The bursaries will be open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the following fields:
- Civil Engineering: Advanced Diploma (NQF level 7)
- Civil Engineering: Bachelor of Engineering Technology (NQF level 7)
- Electrical Engineering: National Diploma (NQF level 6)
- Electrical Engineering: Bachelor of Engineering Technology (NQF level 7)
- Engineering Studies: N1, N2, or N3 certificate (NQF level 1 to 3)
- Engineering Technology (Computer Systems): Diploma (NQF level 6)
- Hydrology and Water Resources Management: Bachelor of Science (NQF level 7)
- Information Systems: Advanced Certificate (NQF level 6)
- Information Technology: Advanced Diploma (NQF level 7)
- Information Technology: Bachelors (NQF level 8)
- Manufacturing: Diploma (NQF level 6)
- Marketing: Bachelor of Commerce (NQF level 7)
- Marketing: Bachelor of Commerce Honours (NQF level 8)

This bursary program will provide financial cover for a student:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Prescribed books
- Meals
How To Apply
