SANRAL Scholarship Programme 2026

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) invites applications for its Scholarship Programme for the 2026 academic year. This initiative supports South African learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12 by providing financial assistance and academic support to enable learners to excel in their studies.

The SANRAL Scholarship Programme provides financial assistance and holistic support to learners at registered South African schools. The scholarship covers:

  • School fees and boarding school fees (where applicable)
  • Books and stationery
  • School and sports uniforms (where applicable)
  • Transport costs (where applicable)
  • Registration fees (where applicable)
  • Extra Maths and Science lessons
  • Access to the SANRAL Wellness Programme

Learners with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Be registered at an endorsed South African school
  • Be applying for Grade 8 to Grade 12
  • Achieve a minimum overall academic average of 60%
  • Have a total household income of less than R550,000 per annum
  • Complete an online application and upload all required supporting documents

Applicants must submit the following certified documents:

Letters of Motivation:

  • From parents/guardians
  • From the applicant (2 pages) explaining why they deserve the scholarship
  • From the school

Academic & Identification Documents:

  • June academic results
  • Certified ID/birth certificate (applicant)
  • Certified ID copies of parents/legal guardians

Proof of Income:

  • Latest salary slips or affidavit (not older than 3 months)
  • Proof of legal guardianship where applicable
  • Death certificates of parents (if applicable)
  • Proof of registration for siblings in tertiary institutions
  • Divorce agreements, Home Affairs letters, or affidavits for separated or single parents

Additional documents may be required depending on family circumstances, such as proof of foster care, marriage certificates, or proof of unemployment.
