Eligibility checklist
- Live in KwaZulu-Natal and be aged 15–34.
- Come from a disadvantaged background.
- Be a Grade 12 learner or undergraduate student with suitable academic performance.
- Obtain acceptance at Wits or the University of Pretoria for a funded engineering discipline.
Documents to prepare
- Completed, signed form and a one-page motivation.
- Certified applicant and parent/guardian IDs; guardianship evidence where applicable.
- KwaZulu-Natal residence evidence, such as a municipal account or authorised letter.
- Latest school or university results; supply final Matric results when released.
- University admission evidence when available.
- Parent/guardian income and expenditure information, income evidence or unemployment affidavits.
- Relevant supporting evidence for special circumstances, as requested in the form.

Selection and renewal
Only selected applicants will be contacted. Annual renewal depends on academic performance and the departmental bursary policy.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Leaving signatures or compulsory sections blank.
- Failing to name the engineering specialisation.
- Treating the scholarship application as a university admission application.
- Posting too late for the application to arrive by the deadline.
