This is separate from the earlier Sasol Mainstream bursary window and the CSIR–Sasol Foundation partnership bursary. The current Sasol Foundation window is for undergraduate study and specifically notes that no postgraduate bursaries will be available for the forthcoming academic year.
STEM applicants are the main target group. Non-STEM bursaries are limited to qualifying students from Sasol fence-line communities, children of Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders, and children of Sasol employees.

Eligibility
- Must be a South African citizen by birth
- Must be accepted or provisionally accepted for full-time degree study at an approved South African public university or university of technology
- Must be pursuing a first undergraduate degree
- Combined household income must be less than R800,000 per year
- Must be under 25 years old at the time of application
- First-year applicants must currently be completing Matric or have completed Matric within one year of application
- Current university students applying for later-year support must have an average of at least 60% for all modules
- Current university students must not have failed modules in the previous study year
- Non-STEM applicants must fall into one of Sasol’s limited qualifying groups
