What the bursary covers
The current notice does not itemise funding amounts or allowances. Ask Harmony which expenses an award would cover before making financial commitments.
Fields of study
The form lists electrical engineering (heavy current), mechanical engineering, mining engineering, geology, survey and planning, and extractive metallurgy. It also provides an “Other” option. Ask Harmony whether your specific qualification qualifies.
Eligibility requirements
- South African citizenship and a valid ID; age 18–35.
- National Senior Certificate with at least 60% in all subjects.
- Engineering applicants: at least 70% in Mathematics and Physical Science.
- Existing tertiary students: an average of at least 60% in major subjects.
- Studying or intending to study full-time.
Documents to prepare
Prepare a certified ID copy, certified academic results, a CV of no more than three pages, proof of address, and an institution registration or acceptance letter. Grade 12 applicants should provide Grade 11 December and Grade 12 mid-year or preliminary results. Existing tertiary students need their full transcript. The form includes a passport-photo space.

Selection and continued funding
Only shortlisted applicants receive correspondence. Read any offer and bursary agreement carefully, including renewal requirements and any obligations, before accepting.

- Assuming an email in your drafts folder has been sent.
- Waiting until the last day to request missing documents.
