Research on how climate change, fire or human activity affects fynbos biodiversity, ecosystem function or conservation.
Eligibility requirements
- Full-time UCT Biological Sciences students, within the first two MSc years or first three PhD years.
- Academic merit and financial need; compliance with UCT funding policy.
Documents to prepare
- Completed form, CV, transcripts and monthly budget showing income and expenses.
- Motivation and project abstract, each under 300 words; details of at least two academic referees.

Selection and continued funding
Applications are ranked on merit (60%) and need (40%). Renewal should not be assumed without confirmation.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Submitting an abstract that does not demonstrate the fynbos research link.
- Leaving other funding out of the budget.
- Sending unreadable or separate files instead of a checked application bundle.
