The bursary program will require you to meet a few requirements to be considered an ideal applicant.

Closing Date

The Mukuru Bursary application period will end on 19 December 2022.

Please make sure to submit your application and any other supporting materials by this date.

Your application won’t be taken into account by the bursary provider if you don’t do this.

The Mukuru Education Trust is giving out bursaries to students for the coming school year.

Shortlisted candidates will be notified between December 19, 2022 and January 3, 2023.

They may be required to attend an interview between the 9th and 14th of January 2023. The bursary awardees will be revealed on January 25, 2023.

Who Can Apply

Make sure that you meet the following requirements set by the Mukuru Education Trust to be considered an ideal applicant:

You must be studying in the following fields:

  • Business Analysis
  • Software Architecture
  • Software Development Management
  • Software Quality Assurance
  • Software Development
  • Information Technology Engineers

You will also need to meet the following criteria:

  • The candidate must have completed the Matriculation examination with a grade point average of 70% and a Bachelor’s Pass.
  • The applicant must obtain a total score of 65%. (tertiary level).
  • The applicant must be enrolled full-time in one of the above-mentioned fields.
  • The candidate must be enrolled in their first, second, or third year of study at an accredited and recognized South African tertiary educational institution (the University of Technology or University).
  • The candidate must not be a Mukuru employee and must be in need of financial assistance.
  • The applicant must accept to the Mukuru Education Trust Fund’s terms and conditions.

What Does This Bursary Cover?

The bursary will provide financial cover for the following expenses:

  • Tuition fees
  • Text Books

A total of 14 bursaries with a maximum value of R80 000 each will be given.

  • In South Africa, a certified copy of the status proof is required.
  • A level or Matric certificate, certified copy.
  • Certified copy of the most recent academic transcripts.
  • Curriculum vitae (CV).
  • You can also make a Tiktok video as a motivational letter (stating why you deserve the bursary and how will the awarded bursary help, both professionally and financially).
  • Letter of recommendation (signed by an educator/coach/adult who has taught or guided you).
  • Proof of household income (if employed, latest payslips of guardian or parents; if unemployed, then affidavit).
