Shoprite Biological & Agricultural Sciences Bursary 2026

The Shoprite Group is inviting applications for its Biological and Agricultural Sciences Bursary for the 2026 academic year. This bursary offers financial assistance to students pursuing degrees in biological and agricultural sciences and provides an opportunity to join the Freshmark team after graduation.

The bursary funds talented students in the Biological and Agricultural Sciences field, helping them complete their studies while preparing them for potential career opportunities within Shoprite’s Freshmark division—Africa’s largest distributor of grocery products.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be 27 years or younger
  • Be in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study in 2026
  • Be registered for a BSc degree in one of the following fields:
    • Microbiology
    • Botany
    • Horticulture
    • Agricultural Economics
    • Agricultural Management (Crop/Plant Production focus)
    • Agronomy
  • Maintain a minimum 60% aggregate

Applicants should prepare and submit the following:

  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Latest academic transcript
  • Proof of registration at a recognised South African university
  • Updated CV
  • Any additional supporting documents required
