Transnet is inviting applications for its bursary programme for the 2026 academic year. The bursary aims to create a pipeline of skilled professionals in key non‑technical fields and empower young South Africans to pursue higher education.

Transnet SOC Ltd is South Africa’s state‑owned freight transport and logistics company. Through its bursary programmes, Transnet invests in the education of promising youth to ensure its rail, port and pipeline operations have access to qualified talent.
What is this bursary programme?
The Transnet bursary covers full tuition costs for undergraduate degrees or diplomas in the approved disciplines. It is open to top‑performing Grade 12 learners and current university students who wish to study in non‑technical areas aligned with Transnet’s future needs.
Who can apply
- Applicants must be South African citizens under 25 years of age.
- Grade 12 learners need at least level 5 (60%) in their core subjects and must gain admission to study in one of the eligible fields.
- Current university students must meet Transnet’s academic and bursary criteria and maintain good progress.
- Preference may be given to learners from previously disadvantaged communities.

- Computer Science and Information Technology
- Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Information Systems
- Environmental Science
- Data Science
- Accounting Science
