Nedbank is one of South Africa’s leading financial services groups. Through its External Bursary Programme, the bank supports academically strong but financially needy students to pursue tertiary studies in high‑demand fields.

What is the Nedbank External Bursary?

The programme provides financial assistance to first‑time undergraduate or Honours students studying full‑time at public universities or universities of technology. The bursary covers tuition fees and may include allowances for prescribed books, accommodation and living expenses. Nedbank aims to grow skills that will support the digital economy and sustainable development.

Who can apply

  • South African citizens currently in matric or already enrolled at a university.
  • Applicants must be accepted or awaiting acceptance to study full‑time at a recognised public university or university of technology.
  • Must have passed Mathematics (pure maths) in matric and maintain an average of at least 65 % in the most recent academic year.
  • Demonstrate financial need and provide required documentation.

Eligible fields of study

The Nedbank bursary prioritises STEM and green‑economy qualifications, including programmes in engineering, information technology, computer science, data science, environmental science, renewable energy, finance, economics and related disciplines.

Closing date

Applications close on 31 August 2025.

How to apply

Applicants must complete the online application form and upload certified copies of their ID, Grade 11 and latest academic results, proof of admission to a public university or university of technology, and a Nedbank financial means affidavit. Applications should be submitted through the Nedbank bursary portal.
