About the sponsor
The South African Nursery Association (SANA) is an industry association representing nurseries and the wider green industry in South Africa. Through the Tom Arnold Bursary Fund, SANA supports students who want to build careers in horticulture and landscaping.
Eligibility
- Studying Horticulture or Landscaping.
- Must have successfully completed and passed all first-year modules of study.
- Must have an average of over 60%.
- Must include a motivation letter (150+ words) as required in the application form.
What it covers
- Support is for study fees for the 2026 academic year.
- Not covered: registration fees, accommodation, transport, books/allowances, and practical training costs.
Documents to prepare
- Completed 2026 SANA Bursary Application Form.
- Motivation letter (minimum 150 words) answering the questions set out in the form.
- Photograph (portrait / student card photo / selfie).
- Certified copy of South African ID.
- Full academic record (and certificates of previous studies completed, if applicable).
- Proof of tertiary registration for 2026 (on institution letterhead).
- Institution banking details (on institution letterhead).
- Subject list for the new academic year (including cost per subject), as required in the form.
Closing date
31 March 2026 (closing date for consideration). Incomplete applications may be rejected.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Submitting without a full motivation letter (or not answering the questions required).
- Leaving sections of the form blank or not completing the checklist items.
- Not attaching a certified ID, academic record, or proof of 2026 registration.
- Submitting after the closing date.
