Closing Date
The Seriti Scholarship application period will end on 27 October 2022.
Please make sure to submit your application and any other supporting materials by this date.
Your application won’t be taken into account by the bursary provider if you don’t do this.
What Is This Scholarship About?
Seriti is a 91% black-owned mining business in South Africa, co-owned by four black shareholders: Community Investment Holdings (CIH), Thebe Investments, Zungu Investments (Zico), and Masimong Group.
Community Investment Holdings (CIH), Thebe Investments, Zungu Investments (Zico), and Masimong Group are among the four black shareholders in the corporation.
Seriti employs roughly 3,000 direct employees, 3,000 contractors, and operates three mines: New Vaal, New Denmark, and Kriel.
Seriti is now accepting applications for its community scholarship program for the 2023 school year.
The Community Scholarship Scheme’s goal is to invest in further education for students who live in the company’s direct communities.
Who Can Apply
Bursaries will be awarded to outstanding students pursuing a degree or diploma in ANY subject.
Before applying, candidates must meet the minimum entry requirements listed below (please note that if you do not meet all of the requirements, your application will not be considered):
- You must be a citizen of South Africa.
- You must be in Matric or have recently completed Matric.
- You must be pursuing or intend to pursue a full-time Undergraduate Degree or Diploma.
- You must be studying or have been provisionally admitted to study at a South African registered tertiary institution (University or University of Technology).
- You must have an excellent academic record.
- You must not be a recipient of NSFAS funds.
- You cannot be the recipient of any other bursary, scholarship, or funding.
- You must NOT be enrolled in a bridging course.
- Students from Seriti’s communities will be given priority.
What Does This Scholarship Cover?
The bursary will cover the following expenses: tuition, book allowance, housing, and meals. (The bursary will NOT cover any outstanding tuition expenses or failed subjects/modules from the previous year.)
Scholars are NOT required to work back or repay the scholarship once they graduate.
Shortlisted applicants will be informed within 30 days of the deadline; if you have not heard back, please consider your application unsuccessful.

Submit clear copies of the following supporting papers with your online application (submission of these documents are mandatory; if any elements are missing, your application may be disqualified):
- Identification document (certified copy).
- If you are currently enrolled in Matric, please provide your most recent results (certified copy).
- Matric certificate, if Matric has been completed (certified copy).
- If you are currently enrolled in tertiary education, please provide your most recent academic record (certified copy).
- Curriculum Vitae in Brief.
- Proof of conditional acceptance or enrollment at a university or technological university (on the institution’s letterhead).
- Proof of residency (copies of municipal water and light bills/letters from Council members or the Chief).
