Sun International Bursaries includes most fields one would find in the leisure and hospitality industry. However, they also focus on welfare, education, cultural activities, and health.

Sun International Bursary Requirements

Candidates who wish to apply for a bursary in any of the fields provided may do so if they also fulfill all the requirements. Candidates may apply to any of the Universities, TVET Colleges and the University of Technology within South Africa.

Candidates must have the following to apply:

  • Candidates must be a South African citizen
  • Candidates must hold a South African ID document
  • Candidates must have just completed or are currently completing their Matric year of study
  • Candidates in their 1st year of study within one of the available fields may also apply
  • Candidates from a previously disadvantaged background
  • Candidates who are female

Preference will be given to candidates who live close to any of the Sun International Resorts or Hotels. Bursaries provided by Sun International are only partial bursaries. They will be awarded to talented candidates based on their financial need, as well as their academic results.

Sun International Bursaries Application

Sun International bursaries application online are not available. Interested candidates may submit an enquiring e-mail to apply@studietrust.org.za, or by sending an SMS containing the word STUDY, their initials, surname and email address to 31022.

Download the application and then complete all fields honestly. Candidates must indicate clearly which study field they are applying for, as well as they University or Institute of Higher Learning they intend to study at and also the duration of the course.

If you intend submitting via e-mail please ensure all documentation is in PDF format. The documentation must not exceed one megabyte.

It is not recommended that applicants change their study field once the applications have been submitted. If candidates do wish to change their field of study and awarded bursary may be cancelled. Bursaries for any private learning institute will not be considered.

Candidates must please attach the following documentation to their applications:

  • Matric Certificate or NSC results
  • Certified copy of ID document of applicant
  • Certified copy of ID document of parents or guardians
  • Certified copy of June exam results
  • A testimonial from an educational official
  • A testimonial from a community leader, spiritual leader or political leader
  • Letters of recommendation may be submitted, these include letters from friends, a parent or guardian
  • A short essay on your life, your history, future ideas, interests, hobbies and any other relevant information
  • Proof of parents or guardians salary, this could include a pay slip, affidavit or letter from employer

Sun International Bursaries Closing Date

Closing date for applications is the end of September yearly. Requests for applications will close the end of August each year, however. Candidates can expect a final answer by the end of December the same year that they submit the application in.

Please bear in mind that there are thousands of applications received yearly. Not all candidates may receive an acknowledgment of receipt of their application. Yet, you can rest assured that all the applications will be taken into consideration.

SARS Bursary 2020 -2021

Do you love working with numbers, do you find mathematics, accounting, and the law intriguing? SARS, the South African Revenue Services has a SARS Bursaries program that may be suitable for you.  This program aims at providing deserving candidates, from previously disadvantaged backgrounds financial aid to study further.  They seek talented individuals who show great potential, who enjoy working within a team and strive for success.

The SARS bursary program is made available yearly, within fields of study that SARS deems as being scarce and critical skill.  Candidates will be selected from all applications received via a pre-set criteria.  SARS Bursaries will be aligned to the companies mandate and objectives.  It will provide candidates with a financial need within specific fields of study, the opportunity to reach their full potential.

South African has a severe shortage of skilled professionals in a wide range of fields.  This program aims to aid in filling those positions, stabilizing the workforce, as well as the countries economics.  SARS provides a variety of opportunities for candidates, the SARS bursary program is only one way in which they help unique individuals to grow.

Funding will vary, depending on the field of study.  Successful candidates may also be required to sign an employee agreement in terms of service, in accordance with the bursary term.  SARS bursaries program is also aligned to the Governments employment equity act.

SARS Bursaries Requirements

If you are a Grade 12 pupil or currently studying, and would like to apply for a bursary in the fields mentioned above, you will also have to adhere to the requirements as is stipulated by SARS.

To study in these fields, candidates will be obliged to have the following:

  • Grade 12 Matric results or middle of the year results if still in Grade 12
  • If studying, you will need your June Results of the current year
  • Must be proficient in English
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Possess a South African ID
  • Must hold an average pass mark of 70% or higher
  • Proof of registration at an Institute of Higher Learning
  • Parents or guardians ID
  • Parents or guardians proof of income
  • Must be from a previously disadvantaged background

Candidates must be younger than 30 to be eligible, and must also provide an essay of at least 250 words, along with their application as motivation on why they deserve the bursary.  All documents must be certified copies, please keep the originals.  It is suggested that candidates additionally attach a curriculum vitae to their application, indicating any work experience, extramural activities, hobbies, and interests.

SARS Bursaries Application

Bursaries online applications is not currently available, candidates can, however, find out from the Universities closest to them, or of their liking, about any advertisement of SARS bursaries during the year.  SARS will inform these institutes of bursaries as they have available.

Candidates can also enquire about their Bursary program, their Pipeline Development program and Graduate program by sending a letter to graduates@sars.gov.za.  Candidates must ensure that the application form is completed entirely and signed.  All documentation must be certified and accompany their application.  Any applications not completed, not signed or documentation missing will be disqualified.

Once applications close, the department will make a short-list of candidates who fulfill all their requirement.  These may be invited for an interview before being awarded the bursary.  Candidates who do not hear from them can deem their applications as unsuccessful.

Candidates who receive bursaries will also need to submit academic results yearly. This will be of all examinations, before the 31 of December.  This does not, however, guarantee that they will receive funding the following year, but is compulsory.

Department of Public Works Bursary 2020 -2021

This Government Department also aids in filling the skills shortages within South Africa, while providing opportunities to deserving candidates.  Their aim is to aid in developing talent that will help stabilize the workforce, they do this by supporting the objectives along with the strategies as is set out by the workplace skills plan.

The Department of Public Works offers internal, as well as external bursaries, thus enabling their staff and public candidates to apply.  With this endeavor, they aim to fill opening that arises within the Department, but also throughout all Departments of Government.

The Department of Public Works is committed to the growth of the country.  They acknowledge the need for skilled workers, thus, aim at creating and prioritizing to meet growing demands.  The Department of Public Works bursary program benefits in ensuring a continued growth, within the skilled labor force of South Africa.

Bursary awards will not be influenced by minor factors such as gender, race, political affiliation or religion as the application selection process is guided by the principle of equity.  Factors that will have an impact on the selection will be economical needs of candidates and academic abilities, nonetheless national origin will only be relevant where the objective is human skills development, for the Department of Finance.

Their bursary program will assist in raising quality skills, promote economic growth, employment along with aiding social development within South Africa.  Financial assistance is also offered to previously disadvantage candidates, wishing to educate themselves within the fields that are open at the Department.

The Department of Public Works bursaries will cover the following fees for candidates:

  • Accommodation at the University
  • Tuition
  • Prescribed Books or Learning Material
  • Meals at the University

Payments will be made to the selected University after statements are received.  Candidates will be required to sign an employment contract for the same term as that of the bursary.

Requirements

If you are currently still in grade 12 or studying towards a degree or diploma, and would like to apply for a bursary, within the fields mentioned, or those that are in scarcity as determined by the department, you will need to meet the following requirements.  Candidates who are currently studying can only apply for the next academic year.  Candidates who have failed or are re-doing their year, will not be considered, however, candidates who re-does the failed year on their own cost, may apply after succeeding that year.

To qualify candidates must have the following:

  • Grade 12 level of education
  • Mathematics and Science
  • Must be proficient in English
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Possess a valid South African ID
  • Designated applications from specific groups will be given preference

Selected candidates will be notified, and a training committee will arrange a meeting for successful candidates.  Candidates will be required to sign a bursary agreement form.  This needs to be done before payments will be made.  Please ensure the application is completed in full, signed by the candidate and all documentation is certified.

Closing date for applications yearly is the end of October. Shoprite offers about 1200 bursaries per year to deserving candidates.  They look for individuals who is focused on getting ahead in life, people who enjoy a challenge and finds the retail/consumer industry exciting.  For more than 15 years, Shoprite has aided talented young individuals to reach their dreams.  They have given bursaries in Pharmacy, Business Management, CA Accounting, Accounting, Retail and much more.

The last few years Shoprite has created an astounding 8500 new jobs, aiding the communities while growing to be the largest employer within the FMCG Industry (Fast Moving Consumer Goods).  Shoprite is not only one of the largest food retailers within Africa but furthermore, a company build on responsible values, socially uplifting communities and rewarding its personnel.  Providing affordable, low priced shopping and stabilizing the economy.

Volkswagen Bursaries 2020 -2021

These Bursaries are made available to candidates wishing to complete their education to gain qualifications relating to the motor vehicle industry.  The Volkswagen bursary program provides financial assistance as well as vacation work to talented candidates.  Volkswagen awards bursaries according to their needs yearly.  Candidates who are studying their second year or going into their second year of study can apply.  These studies have to be through a recognised institute of higher learning within South Africa.

Volkswagen South Africa offers these programs to aid development via academic knowledge and skill.  Volkswagen is constantly looking for talented candidates with initiative and innovation as reflected by their brands to assist candidates in reaching their dreams. 

Volkswagen Bursaries Available

Service binding contract after graduation for a period equal to the tenure of the bursary will have to be accepted.  Volkswagen South Africa also has a Graduate Trainee Program and a VW Technician Trainee Program available for interested candidates.  Volkswagen is looking for driven and dedicated candidates interested in the motor industry that wants to improve not only their knowledge but also their skills.  Both of these trainee programs are for a period of 12 months and after successful completion candidates will be given the opportunity to join their workforce.

These programs are aimed at helping candidates with a degree in a range of fields to gain a solid foundation.  With this knowledge, they will also be able to build a solid career.  The Technical Trainee Program will also cover P1 & P2 which are needed for an Engineering Diploma.  The graduate trainee program is directed at candidates in their final year of study although exceptions can be made for candidates who have recently completed their studies.
