The Quantum Foods Bursary Programme is aimed at South African students studying a Degree / Postgraduate qualification in MSc Agriculture. The Bursary provides financial assistance to those who have a passion for animal nutrition (Monogastric / Ruminant) and farming.
The Quantum Foods Bursary Programme can be used in conjunction with other financial assistance programmes and is only valid at recognized Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) institutions.
Quantum Foods Is an agricultural business based in South Africa, operating on the African continent. The business is focused primarily in the areas of animal feed, eggs, layer and broiler farming. Quantum Foods owns Nulaid, which is the largest producer of chicken eggs in South Africa.
The company has been expanding its operations throughout the African continent since 1996, selling poultry and poultry-related equipment in Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, and Tanzania. The company also owns and runs numerous other successful businesses in sub-Saharan Africa.
Closing Date of the Bursary
Please note that Bursary applications for the Quantum Foods Bursary Programme will close on 14 January 2022. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered for the Bursary Programme.
Applicants who have not received a response a month after submitting their application should consider their application as unsuccessful.
About the Bursary
The Quantum Foods Bursary Programme will provide financial assistance that will pay for the full or partial university registration costs associated with the above-mentioned Degree / Postgraduate Degree.
The programme is open to South African applicants interested in animal feed science and/or farming. The bursary was established to identify those who can provide the necessary skills and benefit to the Quantum Foods company as successful applicants are expected to work for the company for a period of 12 months after successfully obtaining their Degree / Postgraduate Degree.
Quantum Foods Bursary Requirements and Eligibility
Prospective applicants need to satisfy all of the requirements of the Quantum Foods Bursary in order to be considered for the Programme:
- Applications are open to South African citizens ONLY.
- Applications are open to those studying a Degree / Postgraduate qualification in MSc Agriculture.
- Applications are open to those studying / intending to study at a recognised Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) institution.
- Applications are open to those who boast a strong academic record.
Please note that failure to comply with the Quantum Foods Bursary requirements will result in a rejected application.
Quantum Foods Bursary Coverage
The Quantum Foods Bursary Programme will provide successful applicants with financial assistance which will help pay for the costs of the relevant Degree.
The Bursary will cover the costs of the:
- Full / partial tuition fees of the successful applicant.
- Full / partial registration fees of the successful applicant.
Please note that students may combine the Quantum Foods Bursary with other financial aid services such as NSFAS, which can be used to pay for various other costs such as:
- Travel expenses
- Accommodation expenses
- Food expenses
- Study material expenses
Successful recipients are expected to work at one of the Nova Feeds Business units for a period not exceeding 12 months. Successful recipients will earn practical job experience and a salary during the work-back period.

- A certified copy of the applicant’s ID card / Book
- A copy of the applicant’s matric results.
- A certified copy of the applicant’s complete academic history.
- A copy of the applicant’s proof of university registration or acceptance.
