The Cyril Ramaphosa Bursary is part of the Cyril Ramaphose Education Trust (CRET) and they do many good things for the education system in South Africa.
What is the Cyril Ramaphosa Bursary?
Cyril Ramaphosa started in 1996 with supporting a few Disadvantaged students so they could go to University and study. He funded the bursaries with the money he earned through his engagement speakings. 4 years later he started the foundation now known as the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust.
The CRET bursary is different compared to other bursaries. Instead of funding High Achievers, the Cyril ramaphosa bursary helps students who would otherwise have been overlooked. The CRET believes that with the right help they can help to blossom young students and turn them into young professionals who will be successful in life. The statistics on their website already proofs their system is working.
What I like so much about this bursary is that the candidates who became successful, often start donating to the foundation so they can help others.
What Does The Cyril Ramaphosa Bursary Cover?
The Cyril Ramaphosa education trust looks at every candidate from a personal point of view. They analyse what the candidate will need and will make a tailor fit bursary program for them. This means every bursary can be different because some will need more then others.
Of course the foundation offers financial support in the form of:
- Tuition
- Accomodation
- Books
- Stationary
- Allowance Stipend
But they do a lot more than that. They also Psychological and social grounding, they want to make sure the candidate received everything he or she needs so the only thing to worry about is their education.
Two times a year there is an intensive work and experience program during the holidays. This is a great opportunity to learn new skills and start early with networking and making those important connections that will help you later on.
They also offer mentorship, and you will receive this mentorship from Alumni students who went through the same process as you did
Do You Need to Repay the Bursary?
No, you are not obliged to repay the Cyril Ramaphosa bursary when you completed your studies. The bursary is renewable every year with a total of 5 years. Although you dont have to repay the bursary, many Almumni decide to support the CRET foundation with mentorship of financial aid.
