The SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) invites learners and students from its beneficiary communities to apply for the 2026 Bursary Fund. This programme aims to empower young South Africans by offering financial support for higher-education studies in critical skill areas. It is part of SIOC-CDT’s ongoing investment in youth development and education across its beneficiary municipalities.
The Bursary Sponsor
SIOC-CDT was established to drive socio-economic development in the mining communities of the Northern Cape, Limpopo and surrounding areas. The Trust supports initiatives that promote education, health, enterprise development and infrastructure improvement. Through its bursary fund, SIOC-CDT helps talented learners and students to access quality tertiary education and build sustainable futures.
What Is This Bursary Programme?
The SIOC-CDT Bursary Fund provides comprehensive financial support covering:
- Tuition and registration fees
- Accommodation and meals (where applicable)
- Prescribed textbooks and study materials
- A laptop and monthly stipend
Priority fields of study include (but are not limited to):
- Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical)
- Geology and Environmental Science
- Finance, Accounting and Economics
- Information Technology and Computer Science
- Health Sciences and Education
- Agriculture and Social Sciences
Who Can Apply
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a South African citizen
- Permanently reside in one of SIOC-CDT’s beneficiary areas: Gamagara, Ga-Segonyana, Joe Morolong, Tsantsabane or Thabazimbi Local Municipalities
- Be currently in Matric (Grade 12) or already studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution
- Demonstrate academic potential and financial need
- Intend to pursue full-time undergraduate studies in one of the eligible fields

25 November 2025 at 12:00 pm – No late or incomplete applications will be accepted.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted online via the SIOC-CDT Bursary Portal. Applicants must ensure that they upload the following documents:
- Certified copy of South African ID
- Proof of residence confirming beneficiary municipality
- Latest academic results or Matric report (if still in school)
- Proof of household income (payslips / affidavit / grant proof)
- Motivational letter (1 page maximum)
- Acceptance letter from a recognised tertiary institution (if applicable)
