What Is The SAMNET Bursary?
The SAMNET Bursary is a financial aid scheme after many from the Muslim community requested assistance for students having financial trouble with funding their studies.
SAMNET is offering the opportunity for students studying in communication to apply for a bursary with the organization.
The goal of this bursary is to take away the financial pressure and burden that comes with studying in tertiary education and can better improve the performance of successful candidates making them reach their educational goals much quicker.
Who Can Apply?
The SAMNET Bursary is looking for students enrolled in courses such as Journalism, Media Studies, Political Science, and any others connected to the Communications field. Applicants will also need to meet the following criteria in order to apply:
- Must be South African citizens
- Must have completed matric or are in their matric year
- Must be studying or intend to study one of the courses mentioned above.
- Must be studying or intend to study at a recognized South African tertiary institute.
- Applicants need to provide proof of financial need
- Applicants need to be eligible for Zakat
What Does The SAMNET Bursary Cover?
This bursary will only provide financial cover for tuition fees only. Any other fees such as prescribed books, transport, accommodation, etc will need to be covered by the student, a student loan, or another bursary.

- Certified copy of your ID
- Certified copy of your matric certificate
- Full academic tertiary record if you are studying with an institution
- A motivational letter that supports why you would be an ideal candidate for this bursary and why it should be awarded to you
- Parent or guardian’s proof of income along with proof of expenses (where applicable)
- A reference letter from a non-immediate family member
